summer breeze

Published by B under Sari-sari

It’s March already and I could almost smell summer in the air. I love summer and I’m really hoping to go to the beach this year with my family. I miss the beach! I want to feel the warmth of the sun on my skin, the sea breeze on my face, and the sand between my toes. I even miss the smell of sunblock lotion (not the coconut flavored ones). And so, I went window shopping online… I’ve always loved Old Navy and found these:

I could ask my cousin to buy these for me using my raket money. And maybe I could something with the beaded necklace. I can buy my supplies this weekend since we’re going to Quiapo to get my client’s album. Yey! And I’ve always wanted to buy these:

But I’m not sure if someone could bring it home from the US in time for summer. But I’ll still ask my cousin to buy it anyway and just send it whenever possible. I’ll be buying two sets actually, one for me and for my dear nephew. :)

I’m so excited to post this layout but I had to wait a week before I can post. It’s for Funk It Up! Challenge #1 at Scrapforums.com. The challenge was to use part of the lyrics of the song Photograph by Nickelback in the layout. I was not familiar with the song but when I heard the lyrics, I already thought of the perfect photo to use for my layout. I used different CatScrap goodies on this layout and I tried to achieve the paper-scrapped look.

MYMP: New Horizon

Published by B under Fab Finds

Look at what I bought:

MYMP’s new album New Horizon. It’s got 8 original songs and 6 remakes which includes one of my favorites Crazy For You. It’s great for easy listening and it’s fairly cheap too (well most OPM CDs are) for P280. Check it out!

happy birthday to me!

Published by B under Forgotten

Happy birthday to me! Happy birthday to me! Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to me!

Nothing much happened today. My dad, my niece and I went to the mall to fetch my mom, who will be coming from the office. We just had dinner at home with my mom’s delicious home-cooked food. We had pancit Malabon, lechon kawali and kare-kare with yummy bagoong from Malabon. Of course we had cake… I asked my sister to buy a different flavor this time rather than the usual mocha or vanilla flavored birthday cake. And since my dad doesn’t like chocolate cake, she just bought Mango Crunch from Red Ribbon. The real celebration will be this weekend because my sister’s birthday is on Sunday, so we’ll just celebrate together.

The sad part is, just like last year the people who really matters to me (aside from my family of course) forgot about me. But I’m not as sad anymore, I was kinda expecting it and I’m already getting used to it.

On the contrary, my digiscrapping family is really amazing. The Bebots greeted me on the Philippine Digiscrappers forum with well wishes, I’ve received a letter from DST with coupons from different designers, ClikChicDesigns gave me a free birthday kit, and the most exciting of them all, Summer Simmons and the Sugar Giggles girls gave me a $10 coupon to SugarGiggles.com. Isn’t the digiscrapping community fantabulous? Thanks to everyone… you guys really made my day!

I would also like to thank Aggie, who also just celebrated her birthday, for her birthday RAK… I won a $10 GC to a store of my choice. Thank you! Wish I could do the same for the others but I’m really short on cash these days and I couldn’t think of any other RAK to do… maybe next time…

sharing the night together

Published by B under Forgotten, Song for the week

I was listening to my MP3s and heard this song. I really like this song because it’s so easy to sing along with. So I searched YouTube for a video and found this Reggae version by Brownman Revival. Cool! The original version is by Dr. Hook and was first released in 1978 from the album Pleasure & Pain.

This brought back a lot of memories… Me and my friend Dave used to work for Linux Philippines and our office used to be in Alfaro St. in Makati. Now Dino (BR’s lead vocalist) also worked on the same building and I met him through my friend, Dahl, who was his officemate. (Yep we all worked in the same building and another friend works in same vicinity so it was really fun!) My work schedule at that time was from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. and my bosses would arrive at around 9 a.m. so I just hang around the office before the bosses arrive when I have no project. One time I was having a yosi break outside the office, alone, and when Dino saw me he accompanied me for awhile. That was really nice of him.

So anyway, here’s the video and lyrics to the song… Enjoy!

You’re looking kinda lonely girl
Would you like
Someone new to talk to
Oh yeah alright
I’m feeling kinda lonely too
If you don’t mind
Can I sit down here beside you
Oh yeah alright
If I seem to come on too strong
I hope that you will understand
I say these things
Cause I’d like to know
If you’re as lonely as I am
And if you mind
Sharing the night together oh yeah
Sharing the night together oh yeah
Sharing the night

We could bring in the morning girl
If you want to go that far
And if tomorrow finds us together
Right here the way we are
Would you mind
Sharing the night together oh yeah
Sharing the night together oh yeah
Sharing the night

Would you like to dance with me and hold me
You know I want to be holding you
Oh yeah alright
Cause I like feeling like I do
And I see in your eyes that you’re liking it
I’m liking it too
Oh yeah alright
I’d like to get to know you better
Is there a place where we can go
Where we can be alone together
And turn the lights down low
And start sharing the night together oh yeah
Sharing the night together oh yeah
Sharing the night

celebration of life

Published by B under Sari-sari

My aunt finally gave up her battle with lung cancer and rejoined our creator on the 1st of February. She was diagnosed to have it two years ago and September last year her x-ray showed that she had water in her lungs and one of her lungs collapsed. The doctor said that she only had about two months to live. January 31st, she agreed to be brought to the hospital because of her cough but she requested that she will only stay there for two days… on her second day her other lung gave in and that was it… she’s gone.

We’re not blood related, she’s the wife of my mom’s brother, but me and my cousins were close to her and I really miss her! I really didn’t want to look at her inside the coffin but I did and seeing her lying there really broke my heart and made me cry more At least now she’s not suffering anymore…

In memory of her, I did a layout titled Celebration of Life… yellow was her favorite color and the journaling was from the lyrics of a song by her favorite local Philippine artist. She was 49.

…freelance that is. I’ve just finished a set of invitation, banner and table centerpiece banner for a high school graduation party… I also finished a 40-page storybook photo album for a kid’s first birthday… I just finished my nephew’s invitation for his first birthday and will be doing a banner for him… I have two more storybooks to finish…

But of course I still found the time to scrap. Two pages in two two days! And I really liked how both turned out. The first one is a photo of me and my friends when we toured North Luzon in 1998. The journey is from the song Ambon by the local band Truefaith (I really like the lyrics)

The second one is for the Scrapjacked blog. It’s a lift of one of Elsie Flannigan’s page. I really had fun doing this one.

torete

Published by B under Song for the week

This one’s by a local band called Moonstar88. Torete means crazy. The lead singer on the video already left the band to start her own family.

Sandali na lang
Maari bang pagbigyan
Aalis na nga
Maaari bang hawakan
Ang iyong mga kamay
Sana ay maabot ang langit
Ang iyong mga ngiti
Sana ay masilip

Wag kang mag-alala
Di ko ipipilit sa ‘yo
Kahit na lilipad
Ang isip ko’y torete sa ‘yo

Ilang gabi pa nga lang
Nang tayo’y pinagtagpo
Na parang may tumulak
Nanlalamig, nanginginig na ako
Akala ko nung una
May bukas ang ganito
Mabuti pang umiwas
Pero salamat na rin at nagtagpo

Torete, torete, torete ako
Torete, torete, torete sa ‘yo
