quiapo adventure
Most of my clients are coming from the party decorator we hired for my niece’s and nephew’s birthday. She doesn’t like the magazine type of albums, instead, she likes the bulkier magnetic albums in shiny, bright colors. So when she has a client for me the process is like this… (1) I’ll get the CD of photos from her; (2) I’ll do the layout then bring her a CD with lo-res previews for the client; (3) if the client approves and doesn’t want any corrections then I’ll bring her again another CD again with the flattened hi-res files for printing (her uncle prints the photos and gives us a discount), and if the client want some corrections then I have to go back to number 2; (4) after about a week I’ll get the photos from her and go to the album supplier in Tayuman; (5) after another week I’ll get the album from Tayuman and drop it off at her place, and then we’re done. Imagine how many times I have to go back to her place, especially if there are some corrections to be made. So this weekend, I experimented with something new… instead of having her uncle print the photos, I take it to Quiapo (where I get my other albums printed) and wait for about an hour or so then I go to Tayuman afterwards. The printing of the photos costs more than her uncle’s but the lamination is free and I save more on gas.
Here’s my little Quiapo adventure. I was supposed to go there this morning to have the photos printed for an album and to have a magazine style album printed also. So, I was thinking of waiting an hour for the photos and then I’d be heading on to the album supplier in Tayuman. But my sister didn’t tell me until today that they were going to the doctor and that I have to wait till they get back. It was fine with me but I was a little worried because the the album supplier closes at 5pm. So they got back around 3pm and we were able to leave the house about 40 minutes later. We got to Quiapo around 4:15pm and they told me that the photos will be done by 6pm so I called the album supplier and asked if she could wait for me and she said okay. I also had to tell my sister because they all came with me and they would be waiting in the car the whole time because the kids were with them. They’re parked on the other side where the DVDs, you know, are sold so they could buy something and watch it in the car while waiting for me and my mom. So everything was going well when it started raining and guess what… Plaza Miranda and the streets around it get flooded when it’s raining. It’s not really deep but high enough to get my slippers and my feet wet plus it was so crowded, people were running around everywhere and there were vendors on the middle of the road, that my mom and I eventually got wet even though we’ve got umbrellas. And then the album supplier sent me a text message telling me that she couldn’t wait for me any longer and asked me to go to her house instead. It’s near her shop but it’s in another street that I’m not familiar with so we had to look for it. We found it easily but she wasn’t there and I had to talk to this lady who looked like she had no idea what I was talking about. We finally reached home around 7:30pm had dinner and then I went to bed early.
That was quite an adventure for me and I swear I’m never going back to Quiapo on a rainy afternoon. Mornings are just better! ![]()
