glorietta blast and low blood sugar

Published by B at 9:22 pm under Forgotten

Never thought I’d have a blog post title like that. Everyone knows about the Glorietta blast last Friday right? I’m at home that day and my nephew got home early from school. He entered my room and told me to watch the news because there was a blast in Glorietta and my dad asked us to call my sister to see if she’s okay. I was like “Why? She should be in the office and not the mall.” True enough, she and her officemate went to Glorietta for lunch. They had just crossed from Glorietta to Landmark when they heard the blast and when she looked back, she saw the bridgeway shake. Having no idea what it was all about, my sister was more concerned with her officemate because she was already in her 50s and was already panicking and running around with the crowd. My sister had to chase her and to lead her out of the crowd cause she’s afraid that her officemate might have a heart attack or something. Thank God they got back to their office safely and unharmed!

Last Sunday, my tito and my cousin came to visit my tita who just got back from the states. We all had lunch at their house but she wasn’t able to entertain us because she wasn’t feeling well. She had a fever and she said that she feels that her body is heavy so she thought that she’s coming down with a flu. The next day, Monday, she just stayed home and told my mom that she’s still not feeling well and that she can’t eat, so she just kept drinking her medicine. On Wednesday morning, around 3 a.m., my sister sensed that I was still awake so she knocked on my bedroom and told me that my tita was brought to the hospital. She and my uncle were already sleeping when she felt that she couldn’t move any part of her body. She was trying to wake up my uncle but couldn’t, good thing my uncle heard her making weird noises and checked up on her. She saw her lying on the bed, her eyes are wide open but she was not moving. So she called my other tita, who also lives in the same village (we all do), and brought her to the hospital. The doctor said that her blood sugar was low and drinking medicine on an empty stomach made the situation worse. My tita told us that while at the hospital, she could hear everything that’s going on around her but she couldn’t move. And then she saw Nanay (her mom, my grandma, who passed away more than 10 years ago) asking her to go with her. She told Nanay not this time and that’s when she regained consciousness. She really thought that she was going to die already. It was really scary! She’s still in the hospital right now because she still has fever but the doctor said that everything’s okay now.

So that’s just half of my week. I just hope that the rest of it will be uneventful. Have a safe week everyone!
