Enriching the Mind

I feel like my mind is getting dull. Maybe fromthe lack of social activities, I don’t know. So, I’ve been trying out different types of things lately to see if I’ll discover something new that I’ll like and in an effort to enrich my mind. Like in music, I don’t listen to the radio so I’m not familiar with new songs or artists. I’m also trying to read more books or listen to audio books. I’m too lazy to read. Haha! I also promised myself to watch more sports and I mean not just basketball but more like football, soccer, tennis, etc. And speaking of sports, my BIL, who is in the US right now, is planning to watch a live football game. His cousin will treat them to New York Yankees tickets. Bet it will be fun. Anyway, I just finished a book last night and will begin with a new one tonight. With regards to music, I don’t think I’ll have problems with that because I pretty much like any genre. Hope I’ll be able to stick to this resolution of mine. Wish me luck! :D

Carry You Home

Here’s the song for the week. Funny how I still call it song for the week when I don’t really post every week. Haha!

Obviously, this song is about someone who is dying. Reminds me of Kuch. :( It is a sad, sad song but it’s really beautiful. It was used in a trailer of the movie My Sister’s Keeper and when I saw it, it made me cry. Anyway, I like the line “If she had wings she would fly” and I’m thinking about making an all about me scrap page with using that line. So, I hope you’ll like this song.

CARRY YOU HOME
By James Blunt

Trouble is her only friend and he’s back again
Makes her body older than it really is
She says it’s high time she went away
No one’s got much to say in this town
Trouble is the only way is down, down, down

As strong as you were, tender you go
I’m watching you breathing for the last time
A song for your heart, but when it is quiet
I know what it means and I’ll carry you home
I’ll carry you home

If she had wings she would fly away
And another day God will give her some
Trouble is the only way is down, down, down

As strong as you were, tender you go
I’m watching you breathing for the last time
A song for your heart, but when it is quiet
I know what it means and I’ll carry you home
I’ll carry you home

And they were all born pretty in New York City tonight
And someone’s little girl was taken from the world tonight
Under the Stars and Stripes

As strong as you were, tender you go
I’m watching you breathing for the last time
A song for your heart, but when it is quiet
I know what it means and I’ll carry you home
I’ll carry you home

Litratong Pinoy: Lahat Ay Payak (Everything Is Simple)

——————————

My entry for this week is a photo of my friends and our corner in our scholl during our “college days.” Those were the days when everything seems so simple… just hanging out with friends in-between classes or taking a short nap because of lack of sleep due to the night out the other day. I miss student life!

Happy Thursday everyone!

American Idol Season 9 Results

Were you surprised with the results? Not me. Although I’d love for Adam Lambert to win, well, he’s not really the type who can be easily appreciated by everybody. But man! He’s really talented! Come on, you have to agree with me on that. Kris is talented too but not as much as Adam. :D

I was expecting, since the top two was announced, that Kris was going to win over Adam. Why? Definitely not because Adam is gay, although it’s a shame he is because he’s tall and oh so good-looking, but rather because can you just imagine how many teenage girls with cellphones voted for Kris? I mean, he is a heartthrob, isn’t he?

Oh well, I’m happy for Kris and I’m not so sorry for Adam because I know he will still get tons of singing career opprtunties with his talent. :D

Despedida

We’ve had a visitor for three weeks now… my aunt, uncle and cousin who are on vacation from the US. My aunt and uncle hadn’t been home for almost fifteen years and it is my cousin’s first time to visit the Philippines. She’s pure Filipino but she was born in the US.

They went to my dad’s hometown in Samar and spent most of their time here in Manila going to malls. I know it is kinda boring but they do have a lot to choose from. They’ve been to Glorietta and Greenbelt in Makati, Trinoma and SM North Edsa, 168 Mall in Divisoria, Greenhills Shopping Center, Eastwood Mall (it was my first time there too - the new one), and tomorrow they’re going to Mall of Asia. Too bad we weren’t able to bring them to Alabang and Ortigas areas anymore.

They’ll be going back home on Saturday and on Friday, we’re having a despedida get-together for them, which will be held at my uncle’s house. My uncle is excited already because he’ll be able to show-off his new garden. He’d been working on it for months now. And my aunt will be able to use her outdoor dining sets. Yay! Me, I’m excited about the food! Haha!

Colorblind

Here’s one of my favorite songs from one of my most favorite bands… Colorblind by Counting Crows. I love, love, love how Adam Duritz sings with all the emotions and internalization. And I love the sound of his voice. And I love Counting Crows and all their songs. Haha! Anyway, this song was from the movie Cruel Intentions. Yeah, I like that movie too. Happy listening!

COLORBLIND
Counting Crows

I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready

I am taffy stuck and tongue tied
Stutter shook and uptight
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am fine

I am covered in skin
No one gets to come in
Pull me out from inside
I am folded
And unfolded
And unfolding
I am colorblind

Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am fine

Here’s something random… I remembered, out of nowhere, my sister’s friend saying she started using face cream and eye cream when she turned 30 and it made me think. I’ve been thinking… do you think I should start using eye cream already? Not that I have visible wrinkles already, but it’s never too early, right?

Litratong Pinoy: Nang Matapos

Haha!

——————————

Happy Thursday everyone! Do you remember my entry last week? Well, here’s how they look now after being soaked in water for at least 24 hours. Don’t they look cute, especially the small balls? The octopus is now gigantic because it’s been soaked in water for a week now.

Enjoy the rest of the week everyone!

Horror Movies

I’ve been busy lately… watching horror movies! Haha! It’s pretty much more interesting than just sitting in front of the computer, reading about the best weight loss pills, right? Anyway, the freaky part is I don’t who’s DVD it is I am watching. I just saw this DVD inside the maid’s room (it’s empty because we don’t have a maid right now) and saw this pile of CDs with the horro movie compilation among the pile. I asked my nephew if it was his and he said no. It’s definitely not mine or else I wouldn’ve remembered buying it and it’s definitely not my sister’s because she’s not so fond of horror flicks. And I don’t it’s from our previous maids because they don’t have a TV in their room and wouldn’t dare touch my dad’s TV in the sala. Oh well, at least it’s keeping me entertained.

Dying Computer

My computer is dying! :(

The signs were everywhere. Haha! But really, first, it wouldn’t detect the mouse and the keyboard. I have to restart it for about 10 times each time I’m going to use it. Then it would just hang after some time of being idle or just restart on its own.

So, now I’m backing up all my files and preparing to buy a new one. We went to the mall earlier today to canvas the prices. I saw a package I liked but I had to remove the computer table and the chair to make the price a little cheaper. I’ll just improvise a coamputer table, maybe from my dad’s old stereo cabinet.

Now, I’m excited to buy my new computer!!! :D Can’t wait!

Typhoon

My dad left for the province last thursday with my Aunt and Uncle. He was assigned to go there by his siblings to check on the land that my lolo left for them. Anyway, he was sweet and funny in a way because before he left, he was preparing these candles and asked me to bring it upstairs. I asked why and he said it was in preparation for the coming typhoon the nex day. And he kept checking in on us after he left.

Good thing the typhoon didn’t do serious damage in the metro… no fallen billboard, no broken cell tower… just flood… but what else is new? Although I haven’t seen the news yet and doesn’t really know if there are any damages around the country. I hope not.
