Guitarista

I am going to get a guitar and take guitar lessons soon! I promise myself this. It’s been one of my frustrations. I am clueless when it comes to guitars, of course, all I know is I want one. I’ve tried playing a guitar before and I liked it but it was just a guitar that I bought from a street vendor. It was an impulse buy… I was with my cousin and I saw this mamang guitar along West Avenue and thought I’d buy one. My friend, Carl, thought me how to tune it and I managed to learn a couple of songs, Lovers Moon by Glen Frey and All I Want Is You by U2, two of my favorites.

Later on, I found out that my guitar was not really a nice one because the spaces between the strings were irregular. Then strings started falling apart so, I just let my niece and nephew play with it. I mean, what do you expect? It was only PHP 500 (USD 10).

Anyway, October last year, one of my nieces came here to the Philippines for a vacation and she bought a new guitar. I was so envious with the way she played! She was really good and she was only 16! I thought I should pursue with this hobby and buy myself a new guitar and be really serious with it. But like what I said, I’m really clueless. So, I asked a couple of friends whom I thought must know guitars well because they’ve been playing it for some time now and they both belong to bands.

I asked them both what’s the difference between classical and acoustic guitars. Friend1 answered they’re both the same except for the strings and classical sounds nicer and that acoustic sounds more rock. I asked him which he would recommend and he said it would depend on what sound I like. His answers didn’t help me that much because I don’t want to be confined to just a particular genre, know what I mean? Like I would be that good! Haha! Good thing friend2’s answer was more helpful. He told me to get a nylon classical first so it’ll be easier when I move to an acoustic string. Medyo mabigat daw steel strings for a first timer.

Nylon classical it is! A Yamaha one. Thanks so much Paulo! :D Now, how to get the fund… that is the question.

Benefits | Social Security System | Philhealth

Let’s talk about benefits. Nope, not BeneFit cosmetics but life-saving benefits. I don’t know what exactly what to call them so I’ll just call them benefits. Haha! I’m taking care of it right now, or rather, my mom is making me. The last company that I worked for was supposed to take care of it but they didn’t. They did deduct from my salary my supposed to be contribution but never remitted them to the corresponding organizations.

Social Security System
I tried to fix this a long time ago but SSS wouldn’t let me register as self-employed. They said I was still registered under my old company and that they should remit at least one contribution. But how when the company is closed already and I couldn’t even find the owners. Good thing my mom knows someone who works there and helped me register as elf-employed. They are now processing my application.

Philhealth
It’s nothing fancy like Blue Cross Blue Shield NC but this will have to do because this is all I can afford right now. I now have my ID and they said I could pay on a yearly basis instead of monthly.

I now feel a responsible adult! Yay! LOL!

Versions: You and I

Remember the teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man… the one starring John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Anne Curtis and Sam Milby? Remember Celine and JB’s (Anne and Sam) theme song… the one which Sam Milby recorded his own version? The title of the song is You and I and the original version is by Charlie Rich. It is included in his album entitled Every Time You Touch Me (I Get High), which was released in 1975. Well, no offense to Sam but again, I think the original version is much much better. Don’t you think?

You and I, we’re gonna fly across the sky
Higher than high, just you and I

You and I, we’re gonna sail across the sea
Free as the breeze, just you and me

You and I, floating our boat, leaving our smoke
Slowing our boat, just letting it soak

You and I think song that I sing, ringing our bell
Heaven like heaven…

You and I, we’re gonna groove, make our move
Let it lay back, stay on our track

You and I, heaven it’s like crying or cry
And saying goodbye with tears in our eyes

You and I, floating our boat, leaving our smoke
Slowing our boat, just letting it soak

You and I think song that I sing, ringing our bell
Heaven like heaven…

You and I, we’ll gonna fly

Here’s Sam Milby’s version:

Mad House

My cousin and her family arrived from the US the other day and I spent almost the whole day yesterday at my Aunt’s house. I’m telling you, it was a mad house! Imagine five noisy hyper-active kids running around the house and a two-months old baby who always wanted to be carried whether he was asleep or awake. Plus, there were ten more adults scattered around! Can you imagine the riot already? And there were still 4 more adults who were not to there to complete the entourage. Haha! And I made the mistake of locking myself inside the room with all the kids. The noise was deafening! Less than a minute inside the room and I had to open the door and go out already. LOL! But it was fun. This doesn’t happen very often and I’m glad we had the opportunity for a get-together. My cousin will be here for about a month so we have a lot of time to be together! I’m so happy!

Halloween Nails

I bought a bottle of black nail polish the other day in an effort to scare the kids so they’ll be good. I painted one of my fingernails and showed it to them. I told them my nails will all turn to black one by one and I will slowly turn into a witch if they keep on fighting and when they don’t listen to their mom. They got scared at the beginning and told their mom they didn’t want a witch ninang (godmother) and the little girl wouldn’t even talk to me. But after awhile, they both guessed it was just nail polish and that I was telling a lie! Witty little monsters! Haha!

I gave in and admitted it was just nail polish. And I had to do something so that the little would take to me again. I ended up promising them I’d paint their fingernails too on Halloween. Haha! The little boy wanted green nails like a monster’s and the little girl wanted pink like a princess’s. And they promised me I could wear my black nails too. Haha!

Esprit

I love anything Esprit! I especially love their accessories! And their bandanas!!! I frequently visit their shops for bandanas! Too bad though cause I don’t fit into anything they sell in their stores here in the Philippines. Thank goodness for online stores… Esprit shop have sizes up to XL. Yay! Another good thing about online stores is you can easily search the net for coupons… discounts, free shipping, promos, etc. In fact, I just found some Esprit coupons. Yay!

I’ve been eyeing a couple of items in the Esprit shop… a bag, a hat, and ascarf to be exact. I’m planning to buy these soon. My BIL will be going home this September and I’ll have the items shipped to him so he can bring it home. It’s safer that way instead of having it shipped here in the Philippines.

Weddings

Impossible as it may seem, I still dream of having a wedding someday. I’ve been looking at different destination weddings to inspire me. :) I want an intimate beach wedding… with just my family, a few relatives, and my closest friends. That one is predictable for a beach lover like me… maybe on a secluded white sand beach on the Mexican Riviera Maya. The Karisma Hotel packages would be perfect for weddings and honeymoons, especially for foodies like me, with their gourmet inclusive concept. Imagine the hues of blue and white around you while you’re getting married… so peaceful and relaxing! And i’d go barefoot… I want to feel the fine, powdery white-sand between my toes. A girl can dream right?

At My Best

think001

I snagged this quote from Yen’s Facebook status. (I seem to be snagging a lot from FB today. Well, this is the second for today.) I had to because it really makes sense. It reminded me of this set of people, which I’m not going to talk about. Haha! Let’s just say instead of understanding me or trying to comfort me, they took it against me when I was at my lowest. I have to agree… they, he especially, don’t deserve me. Period. Not at my worst and most definitely not at my best.
