Hair Care Products Update

February 15th, 2013 Forgotten Girl

I posted sometime last year that I tried out a couple of hair products hoping to improve my hair loss problem.  I tried the Lush Shampoo Bar first then after finishing the whole bar, I switched to Human Nature’s Natural Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner.

Here’s the verdict… I’ll start with Human Nature first. Like what I said on my old post, I tried it first for a couple of weeks and noticed that my hair loss seemed to worsen. But I read on their site that you should continue using it for at least a month for it to take effect. They said that the hair loss was supposed to be a natural reaction since you’re shifting to a chemical product to a natural one. I gave the product the benefit of the doubt and continued using it. My hair fall didn’t stop, instead, it just kept worsening even after three months of use. So, no more Human Nature products for me. But take note that I think that this is case to case basis. My friend still swears it worked for her.

Now on to the Lush Shampoo Bar… after finishing the bar, I noticed some small hair but I wasn’t sure if they’re regrowth or old hair that became short due to breakage. I asked my nephew to examine them but he wasn’t sure either. So, I asked my hair stylist. She confirmed that the small hair were regrowth. She could tell because they’re thin. So, I bought me another bar and this time I also bought the Lush American Dream Hair Conditioner to pair with it.

Lush Shampoo Bar + American Dream Hair Conditioner

Been using these products for a month now and so far, so good. The hair fall has been tamed already although it hasn’t completely stopped. I haven’t looked closely for regrowth but I’m sure it’ll be noticeable soon.

The conditioner I LOVE! At first, I thought that it smelled too sweet, I like citrus-y smell more. But I got used to it already. It’s true to its words that it is light and it doesn’t weight the hair down. It is very easy to rinse off unlike other conditioners I’ve tried. And the scent stays on my for a really long time.

Below are some photos of the product descriptions.

Next time, I’m going to try their other conditioners.

Hair Care Products

July 9th, 2012 Forgotten Girl

Been trying a couple of hair care products to help improve my hair condition. My hair loss never improved since I got stressed working for a publication and that was seven years ago. The stress I got from that work was too much I’m kinda wishing there’s some kind of insurance for cases like these… kinda like a professional liability insurance, don’t you think so? Well, my hair loss improved for sometime but it gets back again and again and again.

On to the hair care products… the first of the two that I tried is the New Shampoo Bar from Lush.

Lush New Shampoo Bar

Like what the product description says, it should stimulate hair growth. I tried this one based on the recommendation of a beauty blogger who’s suffering from hair loss and this is the sole product that worked for her.

It was a little awkward for me at first to use this because I’ve never used a bar for hair before. I tried lathering it into my hands first but later found it it’s easier if I rub it directly into my wet hair. I can small hair strands but I’m not really sure if they’re newly grown hair or if they’re broken strands. I’m hoping they’re the former.

This one’s a little pricey… P425 for the 1.9 gram bar. But it’ll last for about three months, so, not so bad. You’ll need to use a conditioner with cause it tends to dry out the hair.

The next product that I recently tried is the Natural Strengthening Shampoo from Human Nature.

Human Nature Natural Strengthening Shampoo

This one claims that it is Clinically proven to reduce hair fall by 80% and thicken the hair by 90%* after 4 weeks of continuous use. I used it for a couple of weeks but stopped because my hair loss seemed to have worsened. But I’ve read from reviews on their site that it is a common reaction from switching from another shampoo, especially from a very chemical one. Well, if their claim that this shampoo is 96.4% natural and 100% harmful chemical free, then it shouldn’t do any harm to my hair. So, I’m going to give it another try. I’m going to finish my Lush New Shampoo Bar first then use this for 2 months straight. If it works, then I’ll be alternating the two products. I hope I won’t end up bald after this.

Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel

February 20th, 2012 Forgotten Girl

I went to the mall the other to buy shoes for the event that I was supposed to attend last weekend. Good thing I didn’t find a pair that I liked because the event was canceled. Sigh. But I did find columbia women s jackets with amazing colors and I was so tempted to buy. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough cash with me and I forgot my cc at home. What I did buy are a couple of beauty products. I’m gonna try them out first and then will post about my experience them.

Anyways, my cousin gave me these sample sachets of Laneige’s Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel.

Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel

It claims to remove dead cell build-up and dead cells buried deeply in the skin. Directions say  to apply a nickel-sized amount on to skin, massage for 1 minute then wash off with lukewarm water. Here’s gel up-close…

Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel

My face did look cleaner and felt smoother aftwerwards. But it is a bit messy to use… it’s like that glue stuff that you rub on your hands after art class to remove the dirt from your hands without washing them. Here’s what the gel will turn into after massaging it into your face.

Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel

I used this while sitting down in front of a table with a towel just below my face to catch all the residue. It smells yummy, exactly like a real strawberry yogurt, but the smell is too sweet for me. My dog even thought I was applying real food on my face and kept barking at me, begging for me to give him some. Haha!

I checked out the price of the regular bottle and it’s a bit pricey for me compared to other exfoliating products that is capable of giving the same result but a little goes a long way so I guess one bottle will last for a long time.  But I’m not gonna buy this… I’ve tried a few other exfoliating products better than this.

Green & Purple

August 14th, 2011 Forgotten Girl

Played with nail polish the other day:

I used The Face Shop’s green and purple nail polishes. No, you’re not colorblind, the green looks yellow when applied to the nails because the color is too thin. It’s actually like yellow green. The other hand has inverted colors, 4 nails painted green and the pointer finger painted purple.

I love The Face Shop’s nail polish! They’re easy to apply, they don’t get sticky too easily. and most of all, they’re affordable. What I don’t like is they don’t have much color variations to choose from. And almost all their nail polish are glittery.

Next time I’m gonna try their nail art decor. ^^ Maybe I’ll buy them tomorrow. I’m going to the mall tomorrow. I’m going to look for a good lotion with shea butter and a shampoo, too. (I’ve read that shea butter is also good for the hair.) I’ll be malling with a friend to get another TFS raffle ticket! ^__^
